PML Differential Covers and Temperature Sensors
Most PML differential covers can be machined for a temperature sensor. There are two sensor boss locations:
- the passenger side of the cover
- in the face
These bosses do NOT come machined but for an additional $35 PML will drill and tap them for you. To order a cover ready for a temp sensor, you will need to order over the phone.
Not all PML covers will have these same features, but the examples below are representative of temp sensor boss locations.
Side Mount Location
In the picture to the left, our GM diff cover part number 9330, the drain hole boss is at the far left with the magnetic drain plug installed, the temperature sensor boss is in the middle, and the fill hole is on the right.

By part #, these PML covers have a boss for a temp sensor on the passenger side:
9330, 9513*, 9594*, 9864, 10302, 10303-2, 10361, 10740, 10756, 10815, 10816*, 11035
The boss provided is large enough for a 1/8 NPT sensor (the common size for electrical gauges) with the exception of the part #’s marked with * which can handle up to ½ NPT.
Face Location
In the picture to the left, our Dodge diff cover part number 9518, a hole for a temperature sensor has been machined in the face of the cover.

The following part #’s have enough wall thickness in the face of the cover to allow a temperature sensor hole to be machined there:
9330, 9369, 9401, 9426, 9513, 9516, 9518, 9519, 9520, 9593, 9594
This means that the temperature sensor would be pointed straight back toward the rear bumper (see photo of 9518 cover above) so you would need to check to make sure there would not be interference with your spare tire, gas tank, or sway bar. These parts can handle sensors as big as ½ NPT.
